Humidity is the one that surprises people. Coastal plain slabs sit on sandy soil with a water table that moves, and a slab poured without a vapor barrier will push moisture up through itself for its whole life. That vapor has to go somewhere. If it meets a coating that cannot breathe, it collects underneath and lifts it, which is what people are describing when they say a floor bubbled or peeled in sheets.
So we test before we quote rather than after. If the slab is wet we say so and price the system that can handle it, and if it is bad enough that no coating belongs on it we will tell you that too. It is a shorter conversation than the one that happens a year after a floor fails.
The other local factor is heat. Resin cures by chemical reaction and the reaction runs faster when it is hot. A July pour in an uninsulated Goldsboro garage gives you less working time than the same pour in October, which matters most on metallic floors where the pattern is set while it is wet. What moves the price.
Two things move the number: square footage and what shape the slab is in. A clean, sound slab is the cheap version. A slab with a failed coating on it, deep oil saturation, or cracks that have to be chased and filled costs more because the prep takes longer, and prep is most of the labor.

How the two days run.
Day one is prep. Grinders and dust extraction come off the trailer and the slab gets taken down to clean concrete, then the cracks and pits that the grind exposes get chased out and filled. It is loud and it is dusty, and it is most of the labor in the job. Day two is the pour and the topcoat, which is the fast half.
The room has to be completely empty the morning we start, because we grind the whole slab rather than working around things. Light foot traffic is fine the next morning. Vehicles go back on at day three or four depending on how warm it is, and rushing that is the one shortcut that will mark a brand new floor.

Will it peel like the kit I bought at the store?
Store kits fail because they go over sealed concrete with no mechanical prep. We grind the slab open first, which is what lets the resin key into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.
Can you coat a floor that already has something on it?
Usually. Old paint, failed sealer, and most previous coatings come off in the grind. If there is a moisture problem underneath we will tell you before we quote it, not after.
